Purchase of goods and services

Purchases of goods and services

The single market of the European Union is one of the largest consumer markets in the world. It enables individuals and companies to trade freely across the borders of EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. It offers all consumers a wide selection and the possibility of seeking high-quality goods at affordable prices beyond the borders of their country.

EU legislation provides all consumers a basic level of protection, regardless of where they come from and which national legislation is to be applied in their case. Therefore, in the event that the purchased goods are defective or differ from their advertised properties, consumers are entitled anywhere in the EU to have the goods at least repaired or replaced.
